Bridge part: reverse-engineering a motorcycle hydraulic clutch reservoir

The problem

After a crash, a rider in Bengaluru was left with a destroyed hydraulic clutch oil reservoir on an imported motorcycle. The OEM part wasn't stocked anywhere in India, and importing one meant weeks off the road. He needed a working part — not eventually, but now.

Our approach

Our engineers redesigned the reservoir from the damaged original, rebuilding the geometry for FDM 3D printing — adjusting wall thickness and mounting features for printability while keeping the fluid volume and fitment identical. The part was printed in nylon for its strength and oil resistance, then coated with resin to seal the printed surfaces against hydraulic fluid.

The result

The printed reservoir was redesigned, printed, sealed, and delivered in a single day. It fitted directly to the bike and stayed oil-tight in daily use until the imported OEM replacement eventually arrived. That's what a bridge part is for: keeping you running while the supply chain catches up.
